Hello, Friend!
Gardening has many benefits, as we know, but it's amazing when you encounter statistics like these:
"...those who gardened on a daily basis had a 36% lower risk of developing dementia than those who didn't."
"...those who gardened for more than one hour per week had a 66% lower risk of cardiac arrest..."
These and so many more facts are outlined in this article. (Thanks to my friend Jen for sharing it!)
Now, you may be young and feel like such concerns are not yours, but because you live in our modern world, I'll bet you encounter distraction and stimuli overload. Gardening helps with that too:
"...being immersed in nature might help to improve focus. According to Attention Restoration Theory, our brains have a finite capacity for directed attention in busy urban settings, and nature helps to counteract this..."
I don't need a study to tell me that after a day of juggling all of the things, I feel so much more centered once I'm down on the farm, tending to our plants.
What does it look like to bring gardening into your wellness regimen? If you don't have your own space for it, you're always welcome to join us for a community work day! ;)
